The Mary Anne Graney Memorial Scholarship

The Mary Anne Graney Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship opportunity for area high school seniors interested in a career working with individuals with disabilities. The scholarship is named in honor of Mary Anne Graney, a long-time friend and advocate who enriched the lives of people with disabilities. Residents of Genesee and Orleans Counties that are high school students in their senior year may apply. Children of agency staff are also eligible to apply.

Natalie Bigelow
Batavia High School
Natalie is planning to attend Daemen College to study physical therapy. She is a member of the Health Careers Academy through Genesee Valley Educational Partnership and, is interested in working with children with disabilities, so they can grow to be independent adults.

Alyssa Weaver
Pembroke High School
Alyssa will attend Daemen College to enter the physician assistant program. In her scholarship application Alyssa shared that working with a child with a disability in religious education class was both humbling and inspiring. As a Physician Assistant, (no caps) she looks forward to helping and caring for her community, especially those with disabilities.

Hannah Bowen
Notre Dame High School
After graduation, Hannah plans to attend Clarkson University. As a student, Hannah has volunteered at a foster home that cares for children with disabilities and describes it as a life-changing experience. This experience has influenced her decision to pursue a career in psychology.

Marlaina Fee
Byron-Bergen Central
Marlaina is interested in a career in elementary education, with a focus in both special education and American Sign Language. Her interest in the deaf culture and children and adults with disabilities is a result of her visit to the Rochester School for the Deaf in her junior year of high school. Marlaina plans to attend Geneva College.
